Row Housing is a type of housing where all the homes are attached together sharing a common side wall and a roof. The style originated in Northern Europe and British cities as early as 1600. Savannah has many row houses in various locations of the Historic District, made of different materials. They were built between 1850 and 1890. This painting is of the McDonough Row built by John J. McDonough in 1882, who was later a mayor of Savannah. The landscaping surrounding the houses add to the charm and character of this set of row houses.
