This picturesque gazebo is comfortably nestled into the center of Whitefield Square where it adds not only beauty, but also an invitation for neighbors and visitors to gather and enjoy time together - which is exactly what happened throughout my time painting at the square. The gazebo was actually a gift from Burt Reynolds in 1976 as a thank you to the city of Savannah after filming "Gator," which used the square for a key scene in the movie. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of his gift!
