The Eliza Ann Jewett House
Oil on Linen Canvas
9" x 9"
Eliza Ann Jewett was among the more prominent self-made women property developers in Savannah's Historic District during the antebellum era. She built this home in 1842. Madison Square is a lovely place to pour yourself a strong tea at the Gryphon Tea Room, buy a book at the charming E. Shaver Bookseller--Savannah's oldest independent bookstore, connected to her house since the mid-1970s--then find a cozy bench and enjoy the savory view.
