Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1745, Casimir Pulaski came to the American colonies at the suggestion of Benjamin Franklin. Drawing on his military and battlefield experience, he joined the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Pulaski fought alongside George Washington and is credited with helping save Washington's life during a critical battle. In 1779 while defending Savannah from British forces, Pulaski was mortally wounded and later died from his injuries.
While few of us will ever be called upon to display such heroism, you can play a heroic role in supporting the arts by becoming a Georgia Color Plein Air Friend of the Show at the Pulaski Level. Friends of Show help honor and support Georgia artists as they document the people, places and everyday life that make Savannah and our state so distinctive.
