"Dancing Lights" was painted while looking out on boats and a marina on a moonless night. I struggled with the ambiguity of the subject matter itself as well as the painting of it. I usually choose very ambitious subject matter as it is always a challenge to find the composition within and what I want to say about it. This one was not only difficult to paint but also was a fight to leave it alone and not try to define more that it didn't need. I would like to paint more like this on a much larger scale. Ray, my framer in New Jersey made a special frame for this... It's a double frame meaning one fit into another to create the world of this painting lives in. The actual size of "dancing Lights" is 4-1/2" x 4-1/2"
