This is a small section of a place that I go hiking at near Atlanta known as Sope Creek. The setting is late fall and I was attracted most to the gold that was resounding through the late afternoon sun. This place has a rich history that can be felt when standing on its banks. Pre-civil war a paper mill was built off of the creek that utilized the power of this abundant source of flowing water for product production. It was extremely valuable for the confederacy during the civil war, but was sacked during Shermans march to the sea. The ruins can still be found along the waterside. Whenever I visit there I can feel the beauty and solemnity of the place. Peaceful and quiet - a strange combination of God's creation as it cloistered away in the midst of such a large and buzzing city.
