The visual impact of Stone Mountain is inescapable, an enormous, continuous piece of rock emerging from the earth. The rest of the landscape appears to lay at its feet. It is a compelling giant, inspiring in every sense. Although one piece, minerals and organic compounds have stained and striated the rock. My intent was to find the variation of color while maintaining the solid presence of the mountain. Painted near the base.
